Week 13 – 2011

This weeks finds the Pats vs the Colts at 1pm. For so many years this has been a showcase game. Brady vs. Manning with one or both teams well on their way to the post season. Well, both teams on their way to the post season…. not so much this year. Regardless of statistical standings, we still plan to enjoy the game, just from a different perspective. We’re going to enjoy our game with a variation on our favorite football steak and cheese. Read on for how we put it together.

Steak and Cheese on a ciabata roll.
1lb Shaved steak or rare roast beef
1 large yellow onion
1 orange pepper
1 bag of shredded mozzarella
1 half a bar of habanero cheese shredded

Sautee the onions till soft. Add the steak and cook till medium done. Add peppers and cheese and simmer till all the cheese is melted. This is easiest to do on an electric griddle but can also be done easily on a large frying pan. We like to use olive oil instead of canola or other oil for cooking our steak and cheese.

Split the ciabata roll and fill with steak and cheese. Serve as sliders if really hungry, otherwise a side of tortilla chips and Dougs Best salsa will round out our football feast. With our sandwich and the 1pm game we’ll be enjoying a farmhouse blonde. Go Pats!
