Week 15 – The Tebow edition

Week 15 is here. Wow, the season really flies by quickly. Coaches have been fired, coaches are being discussed as most likely to be fired next. Teams are locking up playoff spots and the wild card rounds are in a total state of flux. Our Pats could have first seed or third seed depending on wins, losses and the arcane playoff seeding rules. They are only tied with two other teams for the same records. Oh, and today we see our TB versus Denvers TB – Tom Brady vs Tebow. Ok, to me the reality is football is the ultimate team sport and Tebow does not an entire team make. He has however made a fascinating story and obvious team rally point. Denver has gone from worst to first and looks playoff bound. Today’s game is full of fascinating by-lines.

This is where it pays to have a great lineup of food and beer to fully enjoy the day. Here’s how we’re going to enjoy our day:

Lunch – sausage, peppers and onions.
Onion
Pepper – we’re using orange but red is a good alternative
Sausage, kielbasa or bratwurst
Good quality hot dog rolls – not that really cheap fall apart stuff, good slightly oversized rolls.

Carmelize the onions with a touch of brown sugar, butter and a splash of Belgian Style Pale ale. Once soft and starting to brown add in some thin sliced pepper. We like the pepper with a touch of crunch so we don’t cook them long. BBQ your choice of a good sausage, bratwurst or kielbasa. We’ll be doing turkey kielbasa links to cut back on the fat but still retain all the spice flavor and texture we love. Butter and toast the rolls on the grill. Layer roll with horseradish mustard, meat, peppers and onions.

Dinner – turkey quesadilla
Leftover Turkey from Thanksgiving diced small or shredded
Onion
Scallion
Jalepeno
Salsa
Sourcream
Flour Tortilla
Shredded Mexican cheese

Sautee the onions till soft and yellow in a little olive oil. Dice the scallions and jalepenos. Take the Flour Tortilla and start with a light cheese layer. add onion, scallion turkey and jalepeno. A little more cheese and put the top tortilla on. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Serve with salsa and sourcream.

We’ll enjoy lunch with a Farmhouse Blonde. Dinner will be enjoyed with a fresh Hop Session. While we won’t count our chickens before they hatch, there’s a Birchwood Smoked Stout in the fridge for celebrating a certain favorite teams win.
