Week 02 – 2012

Did you catch the game last week? I love how the Pats just meshed and owned the Titans by the end of the game. Did you notice we might have a real running game this year? How bout that defense? I know it’s only week one but that was a great way to start the season. This week we have AZ coming to town and the days of Kurt Warner are long gone. They do have Larry Fitzgerald (wouldn’t he look great in a Pats uniform?) so they have a guy who can score at will. I think this week will be a good game and I look forward to no injuries for our team and an even better running game.

How will I enjoy the game? Glad you asked. Today’s game is a feast of grilled items:

Grilled Garlic Flatbread
Using last weeks dough recipe we’ll flip the bread after 5 minutes, lather with olive oil, sliced elephant garlic and mozzeralla. Cook 8 more minutes or until the cheese is melted and and slightly browned.

Grilled Pineapple
Fresh pineapple skined and sliced into one inch thick triangles. This one is simple just spray the grill with a little olive oil to keep the fruit from sticking. Grill for 5 minutes a side and put on a plate to enjoy.

Grilled Burger

  • 1lb 85% ground beef
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 egg
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/4 tsp dried hop pepper blend. I prefer dried over liquid but liquid can work too.
  • 1 slice of sandwich bread

Mix all ingredients until well integrated. Be sure to wash your hands well afterwards as you don’t want to rub your eyes after mixing in hot peppers. Trust me on that one.

Grill burger till done the way you like. I prefer medium well. A heat thermometer works great to check that the meat is the right temp. Top with your favorite burger fixings. Here that’s a red onion slice, jalapenos, pickles, ketchup over a melted slice of cheddar. I picked up some asiago rolls from a local store for buns. Cut in half and grilled they are an awesome alternative to the traditional hamburger bun.

Fresh grilled fruit, fresh made grilled garlic bread and the ultimate burger for the 2nd half. Pair this with Nyx and this is going to be a good day. I hope you enjoy another great football sunday.

Cheers,
Bill
